MIKOV and the Production of the UTON vz.75
Manufacturing process, original drawings and production photographs from the MIKOV factory.
UTON Production Process
Production process: blanking the blade from a steel strip → stamping the serial number → hardening and tempering the blade → grinding bevels on a semi-automatic grinder → polishing the blade → injection moulding the plastic handle core → injection moulding the rubber handle → sharpening and finishing → assembly into the sheath.
In the photographs you can see: the blanking press, the blanking tool on a shelf, the hardening furnace (UTON saws were being hardened at the time), saws immediately after hardening, the grinding room and the injection moulding press for the handle.
UTON Blade
The first photograph shows a blank blade cut from strip steel 4 mm wide; the next photograph shows the blade already ground to 3.6 mm.
