Short bio (40 words)
David Beer is a collector and documentarian of Czechoslovak military knives. Since 2009 he has run the UTON.cz encyclopedia, which is referenced by manufacturer Mikov and the Klub výsadkových veteránů Jana Kubiše Brno. He lives in Brno.
Long bio (120 words)
David Beer (Brno) has spent 17 years documenting the history of Czechoslovak military knives. It started in 2005 when he stumbled upon a crate of old military UTON knives at a Brno shooting range. He gradually built one of the largest collections of its kind in the Czech Republic. Collaboration with mjr. Ing. Roman Hippík — author of most combat knives of the Army of the Czech Republic — and direct access to manufacturer Mikov and the Klub výsadkových veteránů Brno gave him information not available in mainstream literature. In 2009 he launched the UTON.cz encyclopedia, which today documents over 300 knives including all 9 production series of UTON vz.75, BONUS vz.85, VO-7 and modern ACR knives.
