Parachute OVP-65
ČSLA personal airborne parachute OVP-65 – canopy 80 m², stabiliser, four deployment methods, max. 100 jumps, KAP-3.
The parachute OVP-65 is designed for training and combat jumps from transport aircraft with full equipment and weapons, for special unit drops, and for training jumps from balloons. Maximum load is 120 kg including weapons, equipment and parachute. Warranty period is 5 years from manufacture; up to 40 jumps may be performed before the first major overhaul.

Main Components
Canopy
Round canopy, area 80 m², sewn from 32 panels. Panel no. 32 spans two normal panels, made from high-permeability monofilament – provides manoeuvrability and headwind descent.
Pilot chute
Octagonal canopy reinforced with tapes. 8 suspension lines sewn into triangular stabilising panels preventing snagging on the paratrooper's boot. Steel conical spring inside.
Stabiliser chute
Stabilises the paratrooper and extracts the deployment bag. Truncated cone, area 1.5 m², Uparas chemlon fabric. 16 suspension lines, length 1,300 mm.
Stabiliser deployment bag
For storing the stabiliser and its suspension lines. Viscose silk sleeve with rubber loops. The locking flap prevents premature canopy opening.
Deployment bag
Viscose silk, length 5,100 mm. Reduces opening shock. Locking flap with suspension line bundle prevents premature bag withdrawal. Red-coloured for easy field location.
Free ends of harness
44 mm chemlon webbing, strength 1,500 kg, with quick-release locks. D-rings for attaching canopy suspension lines.
Harness
44 mm chemlon webbing. Main loop, two chest straps, two leg straps, two connecting straps.
Container
Envelope shape, chemlon fabric, steel frame reinforcement. Retaining lock with log book pocket. KAP-3 pocket, triangular flaps for reserve parachute. Three flexible conduits (two long, one short).
Deployment line
For forced parachute opening. Chemlon tubing, length 3 m (extension to 3.9 m above 280 km/h). Carabiner on one end, loop on the other. Cotton sleeve protects the section near the carabiner.
Two-cable release
Short cable (600 mm) opens the retaining lock; long cable (700 mm) opens the container.
Three-needle release
Trapezoid handle from 7 mm galvanised steel wire, half painted red for quick location. Three steel needles lock the container.
Carry bag
Nylon canvas, dimensions 590 × 265 × 390 mm. Press-stud fastening and two sealable zips. Two carry handles and a tag pocket.
