ČSLA Olive Field Dress
Uniform vz.85 for Paratroopers
ČSLA paratrooper field dress vz.85 olive – blouse, trousers with UTON knife pocket and webbing belt.
This uniform was intended in the 1980s to replace the vz.60 Jehličí pattern.
Blouse vz.85 for paratroopers
The main modifications were made to accommodate the parachute harness, which would press against pockets or their contents on the standard blouse.
- No lower front pockets: Unlike the standard blouse, which has two pockets at the waist, the paratrooper blouse is plain in this area so that the lower harness straps do not interfere with pockets.
- Rear pockets: The paratrooper version has specific pockets at the back in the kidney/lumbar area, accessible from the side, for storing small items that would not interfere during a jump.
- Sleeve pockets: Small pockets on the sleeves for a field dressing or small items.
- Material: Dense, strong polyester-cotton blend, highly resistant to abrasion.
Trousers vz.85 for paratroopers
These trousers remain highly valued among collectors and outdoor enthusiasts to this day for their practicality.
- Knife pocket: An integrated pocket on the right thigh for the UTON paratrooper knife, covered by a flap with press studs to prevent the knife from falling out during a jump.
- High waist: The trousers have a noticeably raised waistband that protects the kidneys from cold.
- Foot straps: Straps sewn inside the legs that hook under the foot, keeping the legs from riding up during a jump or when crawling.
- Reinforcement: Doubled fabric at the knees and seat for greater durability.
