Prototype sliding assault knife from 1949
In 1949 it was developed and manufactured in a small number of pieces. The knife is marked on the ricasso E7 lion 49/101. The manufacturer's designation is absent. Apparently like the previous type it underwent military trials but was not adopted into army armament.
A folding knife with a drop-out sliding single-edged blade, which is locked in both positions by a safety with a side push button. The knife is quite similar to the German paratrooper knife from the Second World War, but is multi-functional. In the massive ricasso is a groove as on a bayonet for attaching to a firearm and a side push button for securing on the weapon. On the underside of the ricasso beneath the groove is a folding spike.
On the blade with a central point, 15 mm from the point is a notch on which the blade can be secured in a nearly retracted state — in this position together with the side grip it forms a can opener. The scales are wooden and each is attached to the knife by two countersunk M4 screws. All dimensions given are approximate only, determined from photographs.
