URNA Knives – Demon and SOG Seal Pup

The official knife of the rapid response unit was the SOG Seal Pup. Few people know, however, that the Demon knife was also in the running during the knife selection at the time (1999), and URNA received three examples for testing. Thanks to strong lobbying, the SOG won that time. Unofficially, unit members gradually purchased Demon knives themselves. By 2017, 65 pieces had already been produced.

In the photographs you can see the prototype of the Demon knife for the rapid response unit. Only 3 pieces were made. On the left side in the middle of the blade is the intervention unit's logo and the knife's serial number at the base of the blade. On the right side of the blade is the manufacturer's and designer's logo. On the lower edge of the blade is a serrated section for cutting ropes and cords. Between the blade and the handle is a single-sided steel guard. The handle is made from black-stained walnut wood with a dovetail carving, 11 cm long. At the end of the handle is a tip for breaking windows. The knife was designed by Maj. Ing. Roman Hippík. The knife was manufactured by Mr. Lubomír Maďarič from Brno and the leather sheath by Hess Brno.

The SOG Seal Pup knife is a mini version of the SEAL 2000 knife. The blade is made from high-carbon martensitic stainless steel AUS 6A. The handle is made from durable zytel and the sheath from kydex.
