Knifemaker Lubomír Maďarič
Counterfeits of Military Knives
Overview of counterfeits of military and police knives produced by knifemaker Lubomír Maďarič — Falco, Cháron, AZD, Orlík, ZVJS, Demon, Dragon.
Falco Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the military Falco knife, made by Mr. Maďarič. The logo marking on the first side does not match. This marking was not on series D, which is what the knife is marked as on the second side. The serial number 15 is also nonsense and absolutely cannot match the production year 2019 shown on the knife. Number 015 was produced in 2008 — as proof, a photograph of the genuine 2008 Falco series D with serial number 18 is shown here. Another thing you may notice is the colour of the leather rings — when the genuine Falco was made in 2008 they are brown, whereas on this counterfeit they are made from dark blue to black leather, which the maker only began using several years later when the brown leather ran out.

Falco Knife – Counterfeits (second piece)
The photographs show another counterfeit of the military Falco knife, made by Mr. Maďarič. The logo marking on the first side does not match — where the maker's logo is, there should be the unit emblem, and the maker's logo should be on the other side of the blade. The numerical marking on the second side of the blade does not match, and both numbers are complete nonsense — the production series is also missing.

Cháron Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the military Cháron knife. It was sold with the story that it was a Cháron prototype made from Elmax steel. It was made by a Slovak knifemaker, J. Gutten, who works very closely with L. Maďarič and produces his knives under the Maďarič brand.
The first absurdity is the marking — 2021 was the year when the Cháron knife was already being made by the unit itself in Chrudim. Another error is the serial number, which now exceeds 450. Further nuances include the colour of the marking, the blade shade, and the blade material. It was never made from Elmax. It is also nonsense that the knife bears the M mark for Maďarič, as this has no longer appeared on knives made since 2020 by the unit itself.

AZD Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the military AZD knife. This knife was produced in a very small quantity for the 121st Active Reserve Company, around 2008. This piece, along with the other one in the photograph, is a counterfeit made for friends of Mr. Maďarič — Mr. V.S. and Mr. J.B. from Slovakia. The original has marking on the right side in the format knife number, year of production, and AZD3/121. This imitation has only the marking AZD and year 2019.

Orlík Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the police knife Orlík. The Votan knife was originally going to be called Orlík, but in the end received the name Votan. The maker Mr. Maďarič sold this knife with the story that it was a rarity — the predecessor of the Votan knife named Orlík. The production of the original Votan piece was in 2003, which the maker tried to put on this counterfeit's blade too, but somehow forgot that the material used for the handle did not yet exist at that time. The original Votan has a handle of leather rings and does not have a pointed pommel as is also incorrectly shown here.

ZVJS Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the police ZVJS knife. This knife was produced in a very small quantity for a prison service unit. The counterfeit in the photograph lacks numerical markings in the places where the original has them. The upper blade grind is considerably shorter than on the original. The knife handle is made from a different material and has longitudinal grooves that the original does not have.

Demon Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the police Demon knife. This knife was made for URNA and in the original every knife has on the right side of the blade a letter indicating the series, the knife's sequential number, and the year of production. Here in the photographs that right side is completely blank.

Dragon Knife – Counterfeits
The photographs show a counterfeit of the Dragon knife for the Brno intervention unit. The original uses walnut wood with a herringbone pattern for the handle.
