Development and Use
In 2023 and 2024, the IMINT unit stationed in Pardubice had two small series of knives produced based on the original BoBuN (Combat Sausage Knife) design from 2015/2016. The knives were manufactured by Mikov and the entire design process was accompanied by the creator of the original knife, Roman Hippík. The knife bears the nickname Ostříž (Merlin), which relates to the unit's mission.
Description
A practical utility outdoor knife with a handle made of leather rings compressed by a nut through the pommel. On the left side is engraved the inscription IMAGERY INTEL and the central part of the imagery intelligence logo of the Czech Air Force. On the right side is the Mikov logo, the RH logo of designer Roman Hippík, and the knife serial number.
Sheath
The sheath is made from several layers of leather stitched together, secured on the front side by two snap buttons. The front part is embossed with the complete insignia of the Imagery Intelligence unit of the Czech Air Force with the inscription CZECH AIR FORCE and the motto "PICTURE IS WORTH THOUSAND WORDS".
