Prototypes of the Falco and Cháron Knives
The first produced pieces of the Falco (1997) and Cháron (2000) knives by knifemaker Lubomír Maďarič.
Falco Knife (1997)
In the photographs you can view the very first produced piece of the Falco knife. In 1997, knifemaker Lubomír Maďarič made it according to the requirements of then-2nd Lt. Roman Hippík. This specimen remained only at the prototype stage, primarily due to the excessively long lower saw and the handle being too thin.
Collectors and connoisseurs of Maďarič's knives will immediately notice the atypical reddish tint of the blade. This is due to the material used — while later series used steel 14260 as standard, this prototype used the then highest-quality series 19 steel, on which the bluing treatment created this specific shade.
Also worthy of note is the first variant of the sheath, which differs significantly from today's versions. This particular knife is published in a book about Lubomír Maďarič and the manufacturer himself enjoyed displaying it at knifemaking exhibitions along with a certificate from the Prostějov deep reconnaissance unit.

Cháron Knife (2000)
The next photographs capture the prototype of the Cháron knife from 2000. At first glance it differs in the shape of the handle from what we are used to seeing on this model.
An interesting feature of this historical piece is the fact that the handle was finished by its creator himself, 2nd Lt. Roman Hippík. A keen collector's eye will also notice the period leather sheath made from brown leather.
