STORM 2020
STORM is the second knife in the War Veteran project. It was created as a reminder of Operation Desert Storm in 1991, in which the then Czechoslovak Army participated as its first foreign mission. The STORM knife design therefore combines elements of the UTON knife that soldiers carried at the time, and the forms of STEALTH aircraft technology — which at that time represented a breakthrough in air warfare.
The knife was designed by Major Roman Hippík. The blade has a double edge. The lower edge with a length of 142 mm and a raised point is the same as on the UTON knife. The upper edge is divided into two parts — the front descending section (74 mm) meets the raised point, which reinforces the stabbing characteristics; the rear false edge (54 mm) serves as a thumb rest. The guard is formed by a raised spine with a roughened thumb rest and an extended lower integral guard as a finger rest.
The handle is barrel-shaped with scales made from black G10. The pommel has a 4 mm hole for a safety lanyard. The scales are fastened with three M4 socket-head screws with DLC surface treatment. Each knife bears the designer's mark, maker's mark, serial number, and year of production.
The textile sheath consists of a modular scabbard and a detachable hanger. The scabbard is made from laminated flame-resistant black Cordura 500. On the front face is the sleeve insignia of the unit used in 1990–1991.
The knife was unveiled in autumn 2020, 200 pieces were produced and production continues. The price is 5,690 CZK, of which 300 CZK goes to the Military Solidarity Fund.
