GOLAK 2024
GOLAK is the fourth knife (dagger) in the War Veteran project produced by Mikov. The dagger commemorates the participation of Czech soldiers in the Balkans, in Kosovo — the KFOR mission. It takes its name from the hill Golak, one of the landmarks in Sector A. From this hill it was possible to observe a large part of the sector assigned to the Czech unit, including the terrain towards the city of Pristina.
The dagger's designer, Major Roman Hippík, was inspired by the assault knife vz.85 with its dagger-like blade, and by Balkan daggers. He sought to combine their shapes — resulting in the integral dagger Golak, which belongs to the combat dagger category but, thanks to its wider blade, can also handle basic outdoor tasks.
The handle is made from two scales of black-green G10, intended to evoke the contour lines of a hill. The handle ergonomics allow a wide variety of grips and quick grip changes. The blade's lightening grooves shift the centre of gravity towards the middle of the dagger. The sheath is made from green Kydex with a nylon hanger — made by knifemaker Jindřich Kutil.
The dagger was unveiled on 2 May 2024 and costs 7,900 CZK, of which 300 CZK goes to the Military Solidarity Fund.
